The Amazon Tree

This post is a chapter from a forthcoming book I am writing, Women Diviners of Trees and Time: Messages from Ancient Amazon Priestesses For a number of years, I was in a women’s spiritual group who met to do Earth based rituals in Northern California once a month. For reasons that were not completely clear to any of us, we called ourselves The Cosmic Boatwomen. One day we set out to find and interact with a particular tree. We had been told through a divination that this tree wished to gift us with a song. The prescription was to make hats, find this tree and listen for the song. The...

Stories They Told Me

Announcing the new publication of the second novel in my Crete series, Stories They Told Me, in paperback and ebook format. My first novel, Ode to Minoa, is the journey of snake priestess-prophetess, Aureillia, in Minoan Crete (1600 BCE) who, through a series of trance visions, witnesses the murder of the Goddess and the future of women as a result of this loss. After I completed that novel I wanted to understand what happened to men with the loss and murder of the Goddess. Stories They Told Me is the culmination of that effort. The novel explores the separation of men and women and the...

The Walnut Tree of Benevento Italy

The town of Benevento, Italy is famous for the legends of its ancient walnut tree. The Streghe danced around this tree in ritual celebration until it was deliberately cut down in 662 AD. According to Raven Grimassi’s research, the spiritual power specific to the walnut tree connects to otherworld guides and the faery realm. The deep roots reach into the realms below. When the Streghe danced around the sacred tree at Benevento, they were pulling up the underworld power that had been collected and stored by the roots. “The power is drawn up by the circular dances performed around its trunk.”*...

What is a Coven?

For many years I believed the coven was a group of women that met at certain phases of the moon and carried out sacred work dedicated to women’s medicine. I tried and tried to create a coven. My efforts kept failing. Finally, I learned the Italian word for coven, boschetto. In Italian, this is the same word as grove. The fact that these two words are the same in Italian was very interesting to me. I began to hold this knowing in my consciousness. One day, while doing spirit work with a grove of trees on a local mountain, I was shown that the coven is and always was the trees.  The circle of...

The Role of the Priestess

your wild is your beauty and your forbidden is your power   It is very important to be a priestess. I met a giant redwood tree in the forest. At first I thought there was a priestess inside it but then I understood it was the Goddess. It was Isis: “the goddess of ten thousand names.” She was standing in her Greek representation. She had stars on her head. She was holding an ankh shaped sistrum. She told me “your wild is your beauty and your forbidden is your power.” She downloaded me with all kinds of information about what it means to be a priestess. The priestess is the bridge between...
