When Healing Inner Sorrow comes to us, it is reminding us that deep in each human there is a strong and brilliant light. Some traditions see this light as chakras, while others see it as breath. In the Oscan tradition, the light is seen as a rod of power that lives in each of us and keeps us aligned. This rod (or wand) doubles as the ancient healing snake.
When Healing Inner Sorrow comes to you, you are being asked to bring your inner rod or ancient snake back into alignment.
Ritual
Sit directly on the earth without a cushion or any form of padding beneath you. Envision your spine running from your tailbone all the way up and fusing with the base of your skull. The top of your head reaches skyward and your tailbone grounds into the earth. Feel the full length of your spine and call to the ancient Snake Goddess, saying, “Ancient giver of time and life, I welcome your vitality and wisdom within.” Feel as she moves up your spine, fortifying where it is needed, healing wounds, and gently loosening the areas that are holding too tightly. When you feel her healing is complete, offer her hibiscus tea and give many thanks for her love.
Deep Dive
Humans encounter many experiences that knock us out of alignment. We are, in fact, very delicate creatures and our spines often find themselves fairly taxed. This is meant both spiritually and physically. Many physical ailments start with misalignment of the spine and then spread. The same is true of spiritual ailments.
The snake as a creature has very little to knock out of alignment; its bones stay strong and flexible. For humans to be efficient and healthy, we must also keep our spinal bones strong and flexible both physically and spiritually. Call to the snakes of this dimension and see how they maneuver. Think deeply about your spine and call the snake up your body and into your spine. Allow this sacred creature to impart its wisdom upon you so that you may remain in alignment and have worldly peace.
