Our Italian ancestresses of the Strega lineage used knotting and stitching as a form of medicine. They wove, knotted or stitched intention as a form of magic. They crafted talismans and lace, stitched onto pillows and curtains, wove shields and cloth for ritual tapestries and clothing.
The women in the lineage can make magic with their hands.
Often, they offered the talismans to the water as a form of communication. They believed the water was alive. They told the secrets on the talismans to the water but also offered them as prayers for healing. They sent messages to the water by offering the talismans into the water. They sent these messages through the water to the place in The Beyond or l’Oltre. The Beyond or l’Oltre is the place in the otherworld that holds the lineage. It is a place in the east, beyond the ocean, in another dimension, that supports the lineage in this one. This place is alive with the Streghe Tree of Life and a deep well of alive water that connects to all water.
This is a very ancient tree lineage.
She wears heavy clothing, sensible shoes and a scarf over her hair as she places the talisman she has knotted, (knot-bead-knot-bead, speaking as she knots it), into the water. She looks to the east and speaks to the rarefied light over the horizon and the place beyond this dimension that nevertheless exists and is magical. This place listens to her. The Beyond. It responds.
Here, in The Beyond, everything exists in a slightly different way than the third dimension, physical reality. This magical place infuses the third dimension with magic. This is the place she interacts with to “do her medicine.” In The Beyond is a different quality of light. Everything that is alive there has a magical quality, including the deep water well with the fountain of life. One has to cross the dimensional boundary to get there. It’s right here but also far across the dimensional boundary.
The lineage is empowered by this place in The Beyond. This place in The Beyond, in l’Oltre, feeds the Strega lineage. The ancient Streghe believed they had to work with, interact with, this place in order to keep the 3D alive.
All the trees are being fed and kept alive by this world. It’s pure there. It’s immortal. This place is eternal.
On the Tree in The Beyond are Golden Apples. The Golden Apples are code for pentacle: The Golden Ratio. The Golden Apples hold the codes of life. The Golden Pentacles sparkle from within the apples. They sparkle the golden ratio, the growth pattern for life.
The Strega lineage is about life. Preserving life. Making sure life continues. Facilitating and protecting the continuation of life. That is why we always state that we are on the side of life.
